What will your married name be?
There are more options than "take his name or don't." Type both names and see every version — with the paperwork reality of each. Everything happens in your browser; nothing is stored.
Fill all three and the options appear here.
Good to know
- A marriage certificate lets you take a spouse's surname, hyphenate, or (in most states) move your maiden name to your middle name — no court order needed.
- Creative blends ("Smithson" from Smith + Johnson) usually DO need a court-ordered name change — budget extra time and a filing fee.
- Whatever you pick, the update order is the same: Social Security → DMV → passport → everything else. Our free checklist has the whole sequence.
